The Twelfth Station captures the solemn moment of Jesus’ death on the cross, with His mother Mary and the beloved disciple John at His side. The Stations of the Cross originated during the Crusades when pilgrims retraced Christ’s steps through Jerusalem. As travel became dangerous, faithful Christians reproduced these sacred journeys in Europe with outdoor markers. By the 18th century, Stations were placed inside churches, offering a spiritual pilgrimage through Christ’s Passion.
