San Damiano Cross (01)

The San Damiano Cross is the cross before which St. Francis of Assisi prayed in 1205 when he heard Christ’s call: ‘Francis, rebuild my Church, which is falling into ruin.’ The image of Christ is central, surrounded by angels, saints, and witnesses who point to the glory of the Resurrection.
